GOALLLLLLL!

Shoot!

Very happy to start my 2nd season with the Vancouver Whitecaps.

The more I get myself involved with shooting sports the more I love it!
I never had an interest in Soccer (Football if you are reading this in Europe), but it was until I was given the opportunity to do camera work for the Whitecaps, that I had a total change of heart.

Sundays home opener against the Minnesota Stars, proved to be one of the best Soccer games I've covered. The place was packed, the Southsiders were representing, Winger (the Mascot) was up to his usual antics, yes it was a great game!

Did I mention we Won 2-0!?

Winger, he looks harmless...

Roller Derby!

Roller Derby, one word: AWESOME!

Highly addictive sport, fast paced and pure entertainment!
Those are just some of the words to describe Roller Derby. Yes, indeed this underground sport re-surfaces every decade or so, but this time its going to stay.

This was my first ever Roller Derby event and what better way to pop the cherry; work the actual event (Production Assistant, Camera assist). I hooked up with Aaron Johnston of AMJ Pro Video last month while working at the Paralympics, this is pretty much his baby (the behind the scenes, broadcast aspect). He has put in so much time and effort into this Roller Derby Project and it shows because we had a packed house last night!

This isn't your 1920's Roller Derby, the contact sport that we know of today has come a long way, with many rules and regulations changing; one things for sure, the entertainment still stays true.

aww! a nice friendly hug...I think.

"L.A Guns" about to hip-check "Avihater"

"LuLudemon" is going to feel that in the morning!

"Luludemon" is going to need a medic after "L.A Guns" dropped her.

the glory of winning!

next game is on Saturday, May 15, 2010. I will see you there!

2010 Olympics?

Ah the wait,
this is getting me all worked up.

3 and a half weeks until the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics officially start!2 weeks until I start working for the OBSV.
Who knows what kind of Shenanigans will be in store for us, as we are put on centre stage and the world will be watching.

They stationed me at the Vancouver Olympic Centre A.K.A Hillcrest Park, is what they call it now. The event is Curling, I'm excited because I've never seen Curling in person before.
indoor pool, place is huge!
Outdoor pool!
It looks very impressive

The place is huge, eh? Apparently all the Curling is taking place in the left building of the last picture posted above.

Can't wait!

The Production Office

ah "The Production Office"
This is a video assignment that we did for Peter Siedl, the good man in charge of ORGB 2510 (Organizational Behavior)

I must thank my awesome group members: Jordan, Geoff, & Ryan for sparing 4 hours of their time in making this happen.
I am very happy with the finished product, i have no complaints.
it is in the style of "The Office"

We chose to do "Power & Influence" tactics
something we learned that can be applied to a common work place.
i won't explain any further, i'll let the video do the work.
ENJOY!

P.S i've reloaded all the videos in Youtube now.

it is finally over! (Production Planning project that is)

Finally!
I'm finished with the Production book!
it's been a wild ride and an awesome experience.

here's the low down:
Our instructor gave us 70 days to do this project, this included planning the commercial (storyboards, contacting talent, location scouting etc.) and hammering each individuals section of the book (a mighty big one, i might add) down.

its been a long journey into the world of production planning.
but I'm happy to say that i am finally finished!
I've gained a vast amount of knowledge, on how this industry works, and how precise you have to be in order for things to work and run smoothly.

im not saying that i left till the last minute, but if I knew what i was getting myself into, i would have gotten a head start on my section earlier. The book is huge!

this was a huge learning experience, i was blessed with a rockin' team and and in the end, we came out with an awesome product!

not too shabby

got my results back for my edit practicum
and my camera & lighting practicum
80% & 81%.
it was the small mistakes that cost me in the end.
things that you don't even think of, got me.
I wasn't THAT nervous, I'm often calm and collective at these things.
but I was sweating like heck!

glad that is all over with.

these things can happen in the real world (machines messing up) it is good that we are being trained on how to troubleshot the equipment we use.

until next time!
